There will be heats for all categories. Only the Top 20 riders overall will move on to the finals.

Four-Cross Preview (Time Attack Challenge)

For this event, Four-Cross Challenge will be launched as a preview for the actual competition to be held in 2010.

The format will be based on a Time Attack Challenge whereby participants would complete the designated course in the fastest time possible. This event is an open category with only 1 Best-Timed(one) winner

The Categories

  1. Junior – 14 to 18 years old
  2. Senior – 19 to 30 years old
  3. Senior Veteran - 31 years old and above
  4. Open - No Age limit
  5. Malaysian Race Drivers Open to all Malaysian racing drivers (cars & motorcycles)

Event Updates

News Updates (updated 18/10/2009)

Through the days we have received many enquiries regarding the Sepang MTB event and most of it concerns the days of the event. Here we will list down some of the information below. Should you need further information please contact us directly through phone or email.

  1. It is a two (2) day event beginning from 31st October to 1st November 2009 and it would be held on the Moto-Cross section of the Sepang International Circuit.
  2. The entry fee is for the two (2) day event where on the 31st October participants who have registered with payment would be allowed to have a test run on the Moto-Cross track. The official event would be held on the 1st November 2009 starting at 8am. The event management center would be open on both days from 8am.
  3. The two (2) day event would be like a carnival with various exhibition booth, F & B, stage interactive shows throughout these days. Visitors would also be able to receive prizes from lucky draws which would be an on going activities here.
  4. With regards to the Four-Cross, this would be a preview to this exciting MTB format. Although a demonstration would be done, interested participants can sign up for a 'Time-Attack' which is open to all categories listed. Here participants would have to beat the fastest time recorded to win prizes. More details would be available in the coming days, so please check back here regularly.

Rules & Regulation

A. General Rules
i. ONLY mountain bikes with 26 inch are allowed for this event.
ii. ONLY one bike will be use during the entire event.
iii. You may ride, push or carry your bike the entire course, but are not allowed to block a
fellow competitor.
iv. No touring bikes or road bikes of any versions is allowed.
v. Helmets are compulsory. For Four-Cross Preview additional safety pads will be provided to
participants (loan).
vi. Shoes or footwear covering the entire foot are compulsory and must be worn throughout
the entire race.
vii. Competition numbers are to be displayed prominently on the front of competitor’s shirt.
viii.Any width-sized tires can be used as long as the wheel dimension conforms to article (A)i.
ix. Competitors are responsible for any of their own mechanical breakdowns on the
track/course.
x. To be eligible for a prize, competitors must complete the designated amount of laps (Crosscountry).

B. HEATS and FINALS

i. Cross Country
a. There will be heats for all categories.
b. Only the Top 20 riders overall will move on to the finals.
c. Event Schedule will be posted on the Notice Board at Race Secretariat from 31st
October 2009. Please check back regularly for updated event schedule.
d. Results will be posted on the Notice Board at Race Secretariat.
ii. Four-Cross Preview – Time Attack Challenge
a. This would be based on a Time-Attack format whereby participants would complete the
designated course in the fastest time possible.
b. This class is open to all categories with only 1(one) winner in each of the respective
categories.
c. Organizer has the right to make changes to the categories prior to event execution.

C. ASSISTANCE

i. Competitors are responsible for any of their own mechanical breakdowns/issues arising
while on track/course.
ii. NO assistance from team or supporters outside of the race is allowed to participants of the
event.
iii. Assistance can only be provided by team members only at the designated pit area. NO
assistance is allowed to rider while on track/course.
iv. Failure to finish the race either by mechanical or injury will render the competitor a ‘Did Not
Finish’ (DNF) Status.
v. A designated pit area would be available where team members may hand out water,
refreshments or assistance to riders in this area.
vi. Team members are NOT allowed to run alongside competitors or block other competitors
from receiving aide.

D. Race START and FINISH format

i. Please be at the race start area 25 minutes, before start time.
You will need to SIGN IN on/at the designated sheet next to your name and number.
If you do NOT sign in, you will NOT receive an official classification resulting in you NOT
qualifying for your final.
Race management will NOT be announcing individual names or numbers.
ii. Race management will announce your racing category and you will need to report to the
holding area and go through the above process (D.i)
iii. Once you have reported in, it will be your responsible, to listen for the following:
1st announcement -15 min countdown
2nd announcement -10 min countdown
3rd & final announcement - 5 min (competitors to move to START line)
iv. Subsequently it will be 3 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds. The air horn may sound at any
point after the last 30 sec announcement.
v. Late entries will not be entertained nor entry fee refunded.
vi. Upon FINISHING the race you are to sign out. The sign out area will be at the same place
you signed in.
vii. In the absence of your signing out signature, you will not be given any official classification
or placing.
viii.No representatives of competitor are allowed to sign on behalf of competitors.

E. PROTEST


i. In the event of a protest, it MUST be filed officially in writing, at the race secretariat within
15 minutes of crossing the line. A protest fee of RM100.00 will be charge and NO verbal
protest will be entertained.
ii. Deposit will be returned if your protest is successful.
iii. Deposit will be forfeited if your protest is unsuccessful.
iv. Protests forms are available at the race secretariat.
v. Race management’s decision is final.
vi. Rules will be applied but discretion will also be exercised on a case to case basis.
